General Summary

The Moon landing hoax conspiracy theory claims that the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 (and sometimes all Apollo landings) was staged by NASA—filmed on a soundstage or desert set—to win the Space Race and deceive the public. Believers cite alleged anomalies: no stars in the sky, flag “waving” in a vacuum, lighting inconsistencies, shadow angles, and radiation that would have killed astronauts. They argue that NASA, the U.S. government, or contractors (e.g. Stanley Kubrick) faked the footage. Documentaries such as “Did We Go?”, “Faking the Moon Landings”, and “Moon Hoax Now” promote the theory; “The Truth Behind the Moon Landings” and countless science channels debunk it with physics, lunar samples, and independent tracking (e.g. Soviet and international observers).

The theory fits Government Secrets (national coverup of a specific “event”—the fake landing) and overlaps with Global Elites when “they” (NASA, government) are framed as part of a broader lie. It is closely related to Flat Earth and NASA hoax narratives. Mainstream science and space agencies worldwide accept the Apollo landings as real; reflectors left on the moon are still used for laser ranging, and samples and photos have been extensively analyzed.
